The Sebastopol Carpetbag is a whimsical design perfectly suited to experimenting with new materials and techniques. The model is hooked primarily in a #8 cut with lively colors but, just for fun.... unspun curly fleece, hand dyed yarns and prodded flowers are added once the hooking is completed. Add a vintage button or two and you'll have an artistic, one-of-a-kind travel bag.
The Sebastopol Carpetbag stands about 16" high (not including the handles) and is 15 1/2" wide X 6" deep. It's a roomy & substantial bag big enough for a knitting or hooking project or a quick overnighter!
This pattern is carefully hand drawn on grain onto premium quality linen and comes with an illustrated booklet that contains a materials list and complete directions for making this fully lined and functional carpetbag from start to finish. Instructions for the prodded flowers and templates for the petals are given. Suggestions for customizing the lining to suit your personal needs are included.
Available as a pattern only or as a kit with enough hand dyed & as-is wools to hook the complete bag and make the Proddy flowers. If desired, you can supplement the wools with fleece or yarn from your own stash.
A hardware kit, with hard-to-find supplies, is also available. The hardware kit includes a tubular frame, an acrylic bag bottom with pre-drilled holes for handbag feet, metal handbag feet and a swivel clip for customizing the inside of your bag.
UPDATE: I have a very limited number of handles available....get 'em while you can. I'm not sure I'll be able to get handles of this quality again!
